There are four main methods of mining :

The most expensive method of mining is the underground mining technique.For shallow deposits surface mines are typicaly used.Placer mining is another technique to remove the solid particles from the river.For uranium mining another method is used which is known as the in situ mining.

Mining is basically the technique to remove solid particles which are valuable  on Earth.
