In vertebrates it consists of two main parts, the central nervous system (CNS) and theperipheral nervous system (PNS). The CNS consists of the brain and spinal cord. The PNS consists mainly of nerves, which are enclosed bundles of the long fibers or axons, that connect the CNS to every other part of the body

The Cerebrum: The cerebrum or cortex is the largest part of the human brain, associated with higher brain function such as thought and action. The cerebral cortex is divided into four sections, called "lobes": the frontal lobe, parietal lobe, occipital lobe, and temporal lobe.

The main parts of the nervous system are:-

Central nervous system-consists of brain and spinal cord.

Peripheral nervous system-Consists of the neurons and nerve fibres arising from or entering into brain,spinal cord or present in the interior portions of the body.

The function of cerebrum are as follows:-

  • It helps in memorizing
  • It is the seat of intelligence
  • It controls taste,smell and vision
  • It affects our imagination power.
  • It controls conscious and unconscious minds.
