The main physical divisions of India are great mountains of north, northern plains, the southern peninsular areas, the coastal areas, western deserts, and the islands.

EXPLANATION:

India is physically so, diverse that nearly all the different areas of India have different topographical features. In the north due to presence of Himalayan mountains, the northern part of India is surrounded by ice-covered mountains which extend up to East also. From these Himalayan mountains, ice and glaciers give rise to river systems of India which is called northern plans.

The major river systems are Indus - Ganga – Brahmaputra river systems. In south and central part of India, there is a plateau region called Deccan plateau and several other plateaus, this is called a peninsular area. In western part of India, there is a hot desert called Thar desert which forms the western deserts.

India has a huge coastline and that’s why it has coastal areas. India also has 2 major islands called Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar islands. All these are the different physical divisions of India.
