The main problems faced by wool industry in India are low demand, lack of market and low quality of raw materials.
EXPLANATION:
- Wool is obtained from fleece of sheep and was one of small scale industries of India. It was mainly concentrated in hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, and Kashmir, etc.
- In these areas, it was a major cottage industry but, wool industry has been facing problems nowadays. The most recurring problem is low demand for the product.
- With the coming of globalization, many foreign brands have entered Indian markets which is cheaper than clothes made of these woolen products and hence, demand for wool is low.
- With low demand, traditional market is losing its grip and many people are forced to find some other sources of income.
- Another prominent reason is low quality of wool produced in India, which cannot stand in competition with other foreign goods.
- Because of all these reasons wool industry of India is facing problems.
