There are 2 sources for information regarding the interior of the earth:

1. Direct source
2. Indirect source

Direct source:-

Mining,drilling and volcanic eruption are examples of direct source. During the process of mining and drilling rocks and minerals are extracted which gives information that there are layer system in the crust. Direct source are not very reliable because mining and drilling can be done only up to some depth only.

Indirect source:-

Sesmic waves , gravitational field , Magnetic field, falling meteors etc are examples of indirect sources. They are very important for know about eart's crust. Movement of Sesmic wave suggest 2 things :

1. There are 3 layers in the earth
2. Each layer has different density which increases towards the centre of the earth.
