There are 2 Main Types of Software:
System software - They are the predefined software which are not meant for user manipulation. They help in the smooth functioning of the system. They provide an surface for application softwares to work. Example, OS like Windows.
Application Software - They are the software which increase the functionality of the system. They are used for various types of work, like typing, drawing, etc. Example, MS Office, Google Chrome, Tera Copy, etc.
