Pumping water out of the ground faster than it is replenished over thelong-term causes similar problems. The volume of groundwater in storage is decreasing in many areas of the United States in response to pumping. Groundwater depletion is primarily caused by sustained groundwater pumping.

agriculture affect the major causes of groundwater depletion because now days our farmers used HYV seeds that required more and more water.In present time we all want more and more production, so farmer have to use HYV seeds.It is reason for depletion groudwater.And there are also many reasons for depletion groundwater like..
excess use of water for household work ,factories uses ,many industries uses and etc..
