India and Japan have good international relations be it trade and commerce or exchange of military equipment, or idea of world peace.

Japan and India shared a peace treaty after WW2. They have been allies since then and are strategic partners. There have been few recent developments that have threatened the relations between India and Japan. these are:-

  • Ukraine war: it has impacted the whole world influencing the economies and strategic cooperation among the countries. India does not support violence or war but has a good relation with the aggressor Russia. Japan has a very good relationship with the US. Russia and the US are poles apart. This caused a tension between the allies of both the parties.
  • China problem: China has a policy of enlarging its territory. In recent times China has been claiming the South China sea that is at a key strategic location. It has influenced trade through ships among the Asian nations also including Japan and India.

They can be overcome by:-

  • the interference of the international organizations.
  • restricting the Chinese influence in the south China sea.
  • removing the trade barriers between India and Japan.
