VIRUS - a nucleoprotein particle, nucleic acid can be either RNA or DNA, capsid .ie. protein covering is found around the nucleus. They are large sized and infect all types of organisms.

VIROIDS - are an infectious RNA particle devoid of any capsid caoting. They contain only RNA. They are of small size and infect only plants.
