1 alluvial soil -t consists of various proportions of sand, silt and clay. The soil is coarser as we move up the river valleys.
2 black soil - It is fine textured and clayey in nature. It has high amounts of lime, iron, magnesium and generally low quantities of phosphorus, nitrogen and organic matter. It is black in colour since it is formed from weathered lava rocks
3 desert soil -deserts have coarse-textured sand and gravel soil. Low desert rainfall limits the intense weathering that creates deep soils in non-arid regions.
4 red soil -The texture of red soil varies from, sand to clay, the majority being loam. Their other characteristics include porous and friable structure, absence of lime, kankar and free carbonates, and small quantity of soluble salts.
