The mantle is a layer inside a terrestrial planet and some other rocky planetary bodies. For a mantle to form, the planetary body must be large enough to have undergone the process of planetary differentiation by density. The mantle lies between the core below and the crust above. The terrestrial planets (Earth, Venus, Mars and Mercury), the Moon, two of Jupiter'smoons (Io and Europa) and the asteroid Vesta each have a mantle made of silicate rock.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] Interpretation of spacecraft data suggests that at least two other moons of Jupiter (Ganymede and Callisto), as well as Titan and Triton each have a mantle made of ice or other solid volatile substances.1 COMMENT  EDIT1THANKS1please mark brinestThe Brain  AnswererCan't find what you're looking for?ASK YOUR QUESTION

There are three major structural units of earth. These include :

1.  Crust : It is the solid and outermost layer of the Earth. Silica (Si) and Aluminium (Al) are its major constituent elements. So it is termed as SIAL.

2.  Mantle : This portion of the interior is beyond the crust. It is a viscous fluid. Silicon and Magnesium are its major constituents. So it is also referred as SIMA.

3.  Core : The innermost layer surrounding the earth’s centre is called Core. Its divided into inner core which is in solid state and the outer core which is in the liquid state (or semi-liquid).  Iron (Fe) and nickel (Ni) are its major constituents and thus referred as NIFE.
