there are several classes of water pollutants. there can be disease causing agents also in this category . the bacteria , protozoa , viruses and worms especially parasites enter the sewage system and pollute and untreated it . the another can be oxygen demanding pollutants . when so many bacteria are there they can consume up all the oxygen . the third pollutant can be water soluble inorganic pollutants like we can clearly justify that it is acids , salts or toxic substances ,large quantity of this will also pollute water . another is pollutants as nutrients like they are soluble nitrates and phosphates which leads to excessive growth of algae and other m/o . and the bad one is deposition of sediments which makes it unclean and in these all  classes the water is polluted and death of aquatic life is also in harm and our lives also
