Materials required are: Pencils, electrolytic cell, battery, distilled water and cardboard.

Procedure: 1. Fill the beaker or glass with warm water.

2. Put 2 sharpen pencils as electrodes.

3. Connect each pencil to the battery.

4. Wrap the wire around the graphite of each pencil and connect the wires to the battery.

Products formed are : Hydrogen gas and oxyge
