Hey mate here is ur query..

"*****************"

An easy way of explaining this is to use the relationships between the Young's modulus EE, shear modulus GG, bulk modulus KK, and Poisson's Ratio( ν)

E=2G(1+ν)=3K(1−2ν)E=2G(1+ν)=3K(1−2ν)

Now under conditions of simple tension and simple shear, all materials known experience displacements in the direction of force and increase in volume in case of hydrostatic loading. So E,GE,G and KK cannot be negative. So,

1+ν≥0
or,ν≥−1
or,1+ν≥0
or,ν≥−1

and

1−2ν≥0
or,ν≤1/2
or,1−2ν≥0
or, ν≤1/2

Combining the above,

−1 ≤ ν (Poisson ratio) ≤ 1/2

Hope this will help you...

_________

_____________

In possion ratio,

it's
E=2G(1+v)=3k(1-2v)E-2G(1+v)=3k (1-2v)

Understand the given equation

As in negative,
it's,
-1_<v
possion ratio
_<1/2

---------

_______

____________

Also the main theme to understand is possion ratio varies from -1.0 to less 2.5 nu
