Water conservation isabout the idea of using less water because not all population centers have an unlimited supply of fresh water,or even enough to supply the current population.I personally like to think of it as wasting less water.Water conservation's role is different at different levels:1.State & Federal. When the State and Federal governments get involved, we're talking major public works projects (dams, hundred-mile canals, regulation for different kinds of businesses). Their job is to promote conservation sowe don't have to spend huge amounts of capital to create additional supply.2.Cities & Smallerregions (Infrastructure).Conservation atthe governmentlevel is really about reducing waste—preventing leaks and breaks in old pipes and usingconcrete to line canals, but another form ofconservation is critical to protecting our water supplies: Stormwater capture and recycled water. In this case we're capturing what falls from the sky and what we've already used but could re-usefor other purposes.3.Agriculture & Nursery Trade.Conservation here means getting away from centuries-old techniques and joining the 20th century (yes, that's when we started developing better watering techniques for agriculture in Israel). Flood irrigation needs to go away, then farms will conserve by reducing evaporation andby not watering more deeply than the little crops' roots require.4.Other businesses.Often referred to CII (Commercial, Industrial, Institutional). While these users don't represent an outsized piece of the pie, each individual account is a large consumer of water and can make a bigger dent by choosing smarter appliances like low-flow toilets,auto-shut-off faucets, air conditioners that re-use the condensation water. Or, if you're a brewery, maybeuse recycled water instead of fresh water.5.Homeowners.You're the end users, if folks aren't conserving upstream, you'llhave less available to you. Tips to keep the conservation going: Don't leave the faucetrunning, don't shower for leisure, and keep a close eye on your irrigation system if you have one.

There are a number of ways to save water, and they all start with you.
#2
When washing dishes by hand, don't let the water run while rinsing. Fill one sink with wash water and the other with rinse water.
#3
Some refrigerators, air conditioners and ice-makers are cooled with wasted flows of water. Consider upgrading with air-cooled appliances for significant water savings.
#4
Adjust sprinklers so only your lawn is watered and not the house, sidewalk, or street.
#5
Run your clothes washer and dishwasher only when they are full. You can save up to 1,000 gallons a month.
#6
Choose shrubs and groundcovers instead of turf for hard-to-water areas such as steep slopes and isolated strips.
#7
Install covers on pools and spas and check for leaks around your pumps.
#8
Use the garbage disposal sparingly. Compost vegetable food waste instead and save gallons every time.
#9
Plant in the fall when conditions are cooler and rainfall is more plentiful.
