Answer:

Ashoka used different means of communication to spread the message of dhamma among his people. His messages were inscribed on stone pillars and were also spread through inscriptions. He appointed ministers called dhamma mahamattas to spread this message and also sent envoys to spread his message to other lands. His Dhamma include following main principles -

  • People should live in peace and harmony.
  • Everyone should practise the principle of ahimsa, i.e. non-violence and non-injury to all living beings. He also prohibited the unneccessary sacrifice of animals to perform any religious ritual.
  • People should love one another and also respect each other's religious faiths.
