what are the methods of concentration of ores ???
Answers
Answer:
Hey,firstly concentration of ores refers to removing gangue particles from ore.so based on nature of ore ,we use different methods
Explanation:
- hydraulic washing
- In this method ore is washed with water inorder to remove lighter particles,they get washed away and the ore will settle at bottom.
- this method is also called as hydraulic washing
2.froth flotation method
- in this process, ores containing sulphides are being concentrated
- this process will make use of wetters,depressants,stabilizers etc... to improve non wettability of ore and to stabilize the froth
3.Leaching
- this method is used for leaching ores like bauxite
- this is a chemical reaction carried out
- Ag,Au are extracted from this process

concenration of ore:
removal of gangue from ore is known as concentration of ore and dressing of ore .
↪methods of concentration of ores :
1) hydraulic washing;
principle : based on the difference in the specific gravity of the gangue
⇨ it is used for oxide ores.
process :
the Powdered ore is agiated with water. the heavier ore particle settle down while lighter impurities are passed away.
2) electromagnetic separation
principle : it is based on difference in magnetic properties of the gangue .
⇨ it is used for hematite, chromite etc
process :
the Powder ore containing impurity is dropped on a belt which rotates around a magnetic roller. the magnetic particles fall nearer to the roller while non -metalic particles fall farther away .
3) froth flotation method;
principle: it is based on the difference in betting properties in the gangue.
⇨it is mostly used for sulphide ores
process :
powdered Ore is mixed with pine oil and water and violently agitated with air. Ore particle rise to the surface in the form of forth and impurities remains in the water.
4) leaching:
principle: it is based on the difference in chemical properties of Gangue.
⇨ it is used for extraction of silver, gold and pure alumina from bauxite ore.
process :
- baeyer's process
- Mac Arthur forest cyanide process
