The three common features of vegetative propagation are as follows :

1: cutting :
A small part of a plant is removed by making a cut with a sharp knife is known as cutting
Eg : grapes, banana , cactus, etc.

2: layering :
In this method a branch of leaf is pulled from the plant towards the ground and and tip of the branch is exposed outside.
When the stem grows inside the ground it is cut off from the parent plant.

Eg:* jasmine, raspberry, strawberry , etc

3: grafting
It is the method in which the cut stems of two different plant are joined in such a way that the two stem join together and form a single plant.
The cut stem which has roots is called *STOCK*

The cut stem of another plant without root is called *SCION*

Eg: Apple tree, peach, pear, etc

Hope this may help u....
