Black Beauty by Anna Sewell is an animal autobiography which illustrates the importance of kindness towards animals. For instance, when at Birtwick, Beauty comes to live, ginger and Berwick have a talk and ginger is able to relate with her mistreatment and tells that she became ill-tempered. Further, she adds that when an old gentlemen talks to her in a soothing voice and treats her kindly she felt good and  "Bathing was very comfortable."

As they narrate various experiences the beauty ables its reader to perceive the evil and good. Therefore, through her words, she directs towards the kindness and good behavior towards a beast and man to be alike.
