Resource development though a very positive development actually can have negative impacts as well. Some of them are listed below.
1:Environmental impacts; Any area developed as tourist attraction have bad impacts on environment and the local ecosystem causing deforestation, imbalance, soil erosion , pollution and depletion of water table.
2: Economic impacts; In some cases natural resources have been a root cause of violent conflicts. Income from natural resources can cause corruption . eg South Africa which has world's largest diamond reservoir has became prone to illegal activities,drugs, narcotics,weapons and Mafia.
3: Social conflicts. more of gap can be created in the society between the rich and the poor. This can create unhealthy environment and unrest in the people.
4. Crime rate can be increased because of the fierce competition between the different groups for more power and money.
