Container (about 20 liters) with a lid1 metre hose (0,5 cm diameter)Jam jar with lidAny kind of garden soilMoist bedding material (wet paper torn in stripes 3 to 5 cm wide, straw or leaves)Some fresh compost50 – 200 worms
Take the container and make some air holes in it with a small driller, about five centimetres from the bottom. Make a hole in the bottom in order to tightly fit the hose in. This is for collecting the liquid, which when diluted ten to one will make great liquid feed around plants. Fit the hose in. Make the same size hole in the jam jar lid and fit the other end of the hose into it. Fill the container loosely with your moist bedding. Add some handfuls of soil or old worm compost. Then add your worms and place your fresh compost on top of that. Close the cover. Be careful not to overfeed your worms or starve them. For a small container (15x15x15 cm), feed them only once a week. Just pay attention to your worms, you will develop a feel for it.Watch that there is always some moisture, but don’t water too much as well. It should always remain damp. If you let them run dry, the worms will escape the wormary!
