From the time of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first governing principle of India’s foreign policy has been national interest which was inspired by the ideal of world peace, tolerance and mutual respect among nations. There are three fundamental objectives of our foreign policy – The preservation of India’s territorial integrity and independence of foreign policy, Promoting international peace and security and Economic development of India. India’s foreign policy practice reveals also two more objectives- Elimination of colonialism and racial discrimination and Protection of the interests of people of Indian origin abroad.
