. He observed net positive charge concentrated in the centre of metal atom today known as nucleus
Rutherford experiment led to the discovery of nucleus and he concluded that there is a net positive charge concentrated in the centre of metal atom.
Rutherford was not able to explain the stability of an atom and also he was not able to explain the line Spectrum .

Answer :
_______________________
The scientist Ernest Rutherford in 1911 directed a narrow beam of (alpha) particles at thin gold foil.
Observations : -
- Most of the alpha particles passed through the gold foil without suffering any deflection in their path.
- Sum of alpha particles deflected through wider angles.
- A very few alpha particles were deflected through very large angles and some even back their original path.
Drawbacks :
- Rurther Ford's Model of Atom fails to explain the stability of an atom.
This Model is sometimes called as Planetary Model of Atom.
