Answer:

When zinc reacts with hydrochloric acid, the reaction bubbles vigorously as hydrogen gas is produced. The production of a gas is also an indication that a chemical reaction is occurring. Zinc reacting with hydrochloric acid produces bubbles of hydrogen gas.Aug 9, 2020

The reaction between zinc metal and hydrochloric acid results in the formation of zinc chloride and hydrogen gas.

  • All metals react with acids to form salt and water. So, zinc metal reacts with the acid HCl and forms the salt, zinc chloride. During this process hydrogen gas is also liberated.
  • Since zinc lies on top of hydrogen as per the reactivity series, it displaces hydrogen from chlorine. This is an example of a displacement reaction.
  • During this reaction, vigorous bubble formation is also observed.
