In each molecule of table sugar there are: 12 carbon atoms, 22 hydrogen atoms, and 11 oxygen atoms. The black stuff is calledburnt sugar! But seriously, this is what happens when you heat or burn things that contain carbon. It reacts with oxygen and "oxidizes" (burns)....

hope this helps..

Observations in combustion of suger:

  • When sugar is heated first each melts, chars and later burns producing flames.

  • When sugar combustion carbon dioxide and water are produced.

  • Energy is also believed in the form of heat and its release at once.

  • We cannot control the composition of sugar and also intermediate product are not formed.

  • We can combust super in the absence of water and also enzyme are not required.

  • Due to this suger heat energy is released in to the atmosphere and we can cannot store it for future use.
