Explanation:

Absolutely none. We (at least here in the USA) are free to build any kind of peaceful, non-dangerous, non threatening, non profane contraption we please. But there is a “but…”.

**But**, if you want to sell said contraption (the camera), then you had better be sure that you have not violated any patent rights. You may also be required to certify some safety requirements for consumer products. Both of these requirements can cost many thousands of dollars for a sophisticated device. You may also be liable for certain warranty claims depending on the state that the sale was made.

Of course how you or someone else uses the camera could be an issue. For example, if you make a spy camera and hide it somewhere to record without permission, or make a flying drone camera for clandestine recording, you can bring a lot of trouble for yourself because those are illegal acts. I am not sure how much liability the maker of the device will have, but it’s best to stay clear from that liability.

We have the right to photograph whatever we want in a public space, but we do not have a right to harass or impede or in otherwise inconvenience, harm, annoy, or endanger another human being or their property while doing so.

If you wanted to try something out for your own use, go for it!
