You need to get a license from three sources :
1) Government of India
2) Ministry of Family Health and Welfare
3) Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI)
FSSAI provides the license for safety and standardization of food products manufactured and sold in India. Any food product manufactured in India cannot be sold legally without a proper license from FSSAI.
FSSAI provides license based on State and Central provisions and a person having manufacturing units or warehouses in more than one state needs to get a permit from central FSSAI.
There are three categories for providing the license to food manufacturers or sellers, based on their turnover.
