A superposition/diffraction/ interference is a phenomena of waves. When waves interact they show crests or troughs, or rarefractions or compressions, etc
Compton interacted a photon(wave) with an electron (particle). The experiment very particularly followed what is expected from collision theory of 2 particles. implying that photon indeed behaves like a quanta of particle !
