Carotene and xanthophyll are 2 of the pigment which are present in the plant which helps in trapping of the solar energy during the process of photosynthesis.

Explanation:

  • there is lesser amount of solar energy that is trapped by this to pigment as compared to chlorophyll. However there is tracking of a significant amount of light mainly of the  red colour.
  • They are converted into energy which helps in the photolysis of water resulting in the formation of Oxygen and the liberation of proton which is used in the light independent phase of photosynthesis
