Akbarpur-Mati Nagar, situated on the west side of Kanpur Circle at the Kanpur-Etawah National Highway No. 2, 44 km from the metropolis of Kanpur is headquarter of newly created district Kanpur Dehat and is also an important city of the area.
With being the district headquarters as well as the main commercial center, the city has emerged as an important center and the development of the city is happening at a faster pace, due to the development of the nearby Raniya and Jainpur Industrial Areas. But development is being unplanned and unregulated, due to which intensive development, dirty habitations, housing problem, drainage, lack of community facilities and utilities, encroached roads, narrow lanes and environmental pollution are the various existing problems.
Keeping in mind the above facts, and to ensure unplanned development into planned, to reduce urban and regional imbalance, to improve the living standards of the citizen and
ensure the planned direction of development of the city, Kanpur Divisional Planning Department, Town and Village Planning Department, UP Akbarpur-Mati Maha Yojana 2021 has been prepared by Kanpur. This Master plan will fulfill all the requirement keeping in view the growing population of the urbanization area, which is likely to be 150000 by 2021.
Keeping in view the direction of future development in the master plan, proposals for residential areas have been given. In addition, public facilities and utilities have been fully convened. With the increase in the width of the routes for ease of traffic in the city, the proposals of new routes, truck terminals and transport towns have been given. Proposal of central action for smooth functioning of community facilities, and Parks for healthy life has been proposed.
