HELLO FRIEND,
positive aspects:
-this button can increase public participation in elections.(an essence of democracy)
-the voters who dont want any of the repesentative 's option can show their view(right to express a voter's disapproval)
-it signifies that right to vote also contains an aspect of right to not vote
-‘None of the Above’ (NOTA) button, which will indeed compel the political parties to nominate a sound candidate
- allowed in countries--Colombia,Ukraine, Brazil, Bangladesh, Finland, Spain, Sweden, Chile, France, Belgium and Greece
negative aspects:
- NOTA do not mean rejection... that may sound self-defeating to the whole point of NOTA but according to Indian democracy the rule of first past the post is declared the winner....thus, if out of total 10,000 votes, 9999 voters elect NOTA option and just one candidate gets even a single vote, then the latter wins from that constituency.
-there is no legal standing for the rule and hence it does not have mere cosmetic effect
-people may think that why they should stand in a big queue if their vote casts no impact due to provision of NOTA
-there is loss of public money in re-elections..
HOPE it helps....thankyou and goodluck!
