president is formally head of the country
all actions are taken in his name
he appoints all the high officials
he is supreme head of armed forces
a bill becomes laws only when president signs it
he can also dissolve government on advice of his minister he can declare caste of emergency also
he can take adminstration of the state when the constit utional mechanic fails
he can reduce or cancel the sentence by course can even change death sentence

whereas

the prime minister is real head of state
he chooses ministers
presides over their meetings and coordinates their work
president acts on advice of primaminister
but sometimes in some case president use his special power called vitro power
