The Supreme Court is the final judge in all cases involving laws of Congress, and the highest law of all — the Constitution. The Supreme Court, however, is far from all-powerful. Its power is limited by the other two branches of government. The President nominates justices to the court.

FUNCTION :- The Supreme Court functions as a last resort tribunal. Its rulings cannot be appealed. It also decides on cases dealing with the interpretation of the constitution (for example, it can overturn a law passed by Congress if it deems it unconstitutional).

POWERS :-

1) The Supreme Court of India is the final authority to see to it that the division of powers as specified in the constitution is obeyed by both the Union and the State governments.

2) The Supreme Court is the highest court of appeal from all courts in the territory of India.

3) The Supreme Court of India is the guardian of the constitution.

4) The interpretation of the constitution which the Supreme Court shall make must be accepted by all.

5) The primary duty of the Supreme Court is to ascertain whether the laws are executed and obeyed properly and to see to it that no person is deprived of justice in any court of law.

HOPE IT HELPS:-)
