What are the power and function of the governor of a state?

Executive powers: the executive powers of the state is vested in the Governor who exercises his powers directly or through officers subordinate to him. All appointments of the state are also made in his name etc.

Legislative powers : The Governor is a part and parcel of the state legislature. The bills by the legislature became laws only after his signature. The governor nominates one sixth of members to legislative council.

The governor has also financial powers.

The governor has the power to grant pardon.
