Election commission has the following powers with it :

=> It can reject the form of a nominee standing for election if he or she has done any wrong in past.

=> EC has the power to ask a candidate of his personal assets.

=> They can investigate to a candidate about his property and his financial status.

=> They can reject if he or she hasn't payed taxes or has a case pending on him.

=> They can do raids with Income tax commission to check for any illegal assets.
