an independent and powerful judiciary is considered essential for democracies . all the courts at different levels in a country put together are called judiciary . the judiciary enjoys certain powers :

1. supreme court controls the judicial administration in the country .

2. its decisions on all other courts of the country . it can take up any dispute between citizens of the country , between citizens and government , and between governments at the union and state level .

3. it is the highest court of civil and criminal cases .

4. judiciary's orders cannot be neglected by anyone .

5. it can hear appeals against the decisions of the high courts .

6. it is not under the control of legislature or the executive .

7.it does not act on the directions of the government or according to the party in power .

8. it is the guardian of the fundamental rights , the citizens have a right to approach the courts to seek remedy in case of any violations of their rights .

9. the judiciary in india is also one of the most powerful in the world .

10. the judiciary enjoys a high level of confidence among the people .

11. all the final decisions are taken by the judiciary .
