• He is the Supreme Commander of Indian Armed Forces.


• He appoints the Prime Minister and other members of the Council of Ministers.


• He makes high level appointments in the country such as Chief  Justice of India, Judges of the Supreme Court, Chairman of  U.P.S.C., Ambassadors, Election Commissioners, Audition of India  etc.


• A bill passed by the parliament becomes a law only when the  President gives his assent to it.
