* In shifting cultivation, natural forests which had a lot of different types of trees are cut down.

* Then the trees are burnt.

* The seeds are sown in ashes.

* After that ,the land is left for sometimes to regain fertility.

* It is also known as melpa,chena, slash and burn etc. in different - different places..........
