Eye transplantation is also known as corneal transplantation in which the affected cornea is replaced with a donated cornea tissues. There are two forms of corneal transplantation. They are:
(i) Penetrating Keratoplasty: In this the whole cornea is replaced.
(ii) Lamellar Keratoplasty: In this, the affected part of cornea is replaced.
Before any eye transplantation, the following pre-requisites are followed:
(i) Determination of the need of the operation by the ophthalmologist.
(ii) Conduction of blood tests, x-rays and electrocardiographies in order to determine if the patient can go through the operation or not.
(iii) Pre-operation general checkup.
