Water should not be added to dilute HCl but HCl should be added to the water.
Security glasses should be worn.
The process of Diluting should be slow to avoid rapid reaction.

HCL is a very corrosive natured acid. It is very harmful.
Precautions must be taken while diluting it that is, mixing it with water.
(1). The process of dissolving water in an acid or base is highly exothermic so, acid should be dissolved in water for dilution.
(2). The acid should always be added slowly so, that it does not splash.
(3). And while dissolving constant stirring should be done.
