Take some alcohol in a test tube with that leaf in it. Dip its end in water present in the beaker. heat it.
after boiling the leaf, wash it in water to remove alcohol.
Then pour dilute iodine solution over the leaf. You can see it has turned blue-black which indicates the presence of starch.
