The precautions to be taken while tracing the path at the prism are....
1). The pins should be placed in vertical position. For the incident ray the handle of incidence must lie between 30 degree and 60 degree.
2). Make sure glass of slab is clean and free from air bubbles. ..... The glass slab should be perfectly rectangular with all its faces smooth. ........ This would help you in tracing the direction of incident ray and that of emergent ray with greater accuracy.
