The permanent settlement did not prove beneficial of the British. Through the amount of tax was fixed, it was so high that the zamindar could not pay it.As a result they lost their zamindari. But the worst effect were the peasants. The zamindar ill-treated the peasants to be able to collect maximum revenue.
