The people belonging to the upper castes of the society namely the Brahmins considered those belonging to the lower strata of the society, say Dalits, untouchables and isolated them as a separate community.

Untouchability was an inhuman practice.
In this minorities are prohibited from eating was the dominant caste members, marrying out of their own cast,taking water from the well controlled by higher caste or entry into their, etc.
