             Problems faced by regional speakers

                       while speaking in English

Regional speakers face many problems while speaking in English. The most important thing is that English is not their mother tongue.

While conversing in English they apply their own regional language grammar rules which many a times go wrong. For example, in most of the north Indian regional languages, sentences are structured on the basis of Subject—object—verb. But in English sentence structure is different – Subject—verb – object.

Moreover, as English is a foreign language for them, their English language vocabulary is not up to the mark. Because of that they fumble while speaking in English. Their knowledge of tenses is also weak.

To learn any foreign language, we must consider four skills in chronological order -- Listening, speaking, reading and writing. As they grow in regional area, they hardly get any chance to listen to good English conversation. As a result, they don’t get clarity of correct pronunciation of words.

Because of these reasons they feel they are not capable of conversing in English language. It creates inferiority complex and the situation gets worsened.
