Epithelial Tissue :

  • A tissue which grows upon another tissue is called epithelium

  • It always rests upon the underlying connective tissue

  • Power of regeneration is high

  • It has a basement membrane in between it and connective tissue

  • The basement membrane is made up of glycoprotein, mucopolysaccarides and protein fibers.

  • Tissue has a free surface, facing the body fluid or the outer environment

  • All cells are held together by intracellular mussels

  • Blood circulation is absent in it

  • During embryonic development epithelium tissue originates first

  • They are selectively permeable
