Epithelial Tissue :
- A tissue which grows upon another tissue is called epithelium
- It always rests upon the underlying connective tissue
- Power of regeneration is high
- It has a basement membrane in between it and connective tissue
- The basement membrane is made up of glycoprotein, mucopolysaccarides and protein fibers.
- Tissue has a free surface, facing the body fluid or the outer environment
- All cells are held together by intracellular mussels
- Blood circulation is absent in it
- During embryonic development epithelium tissue originates first
- They are selectively permeable
