What are the pros and cons of using ICT ?withAnswer
Answers
This is an excerpt of my own research study published in 'ICT for Education: A few Concepts and Researches'
●Lack of ICT’s awareness. In today's modern world, where ICT is used in each and every
field, people still do not understand the meaning of ICT. Current status of ICT is very poor for a common man. Teachers are not enough training for technology, they have a lack of adequate technical support for education.
● Technical issues like the improper setup of audio-visual aids, operational problems and also, sometimes setting up the devices is very troublesome.
● Irrelevant facts and non-standardised information is presented that create illusions and
confusions.
● According to one participant in our research, “It takes time to understand this system in initial stages.”. Thus, understanding this system is time-consuming. When someone spends the time on learning, how to use the system, that is the time they are not devoting
to learning the content of their subject field.
● The tools of this system are expensive those are unaffordable for the poor.
● The biggest problem is students are taking this as a medium of entertainment at much
higher level rather than taking it as a medium of knowledge, though both can be together because ICT makes study entertaining but still negative use is observed at a larger scale.
● Students are copying the content from the internet without giving them a touch of
understanding. In other words, students are enforcing their brain to eat ripped food.
● One reason for the above point is the role of language. One understands the content better written in one’s own language. Content available currently is mainly in English, it should be available also in regional languages so that people of remote areas be able to access it easily. So, language plays an essential role.
