Qualifications for becoming MLA are as follows :

• The candidate should be a citizen of India.

• The candidate should be not less than 25 years of age.

• The candidate should not hold any executive position under the Government of India or state government.

• The candidate should not be bankrupt.

• The candidate should be of sound mental health.

• The candidate should be a voter in any constituency of the state.
