To become a good geography teacher, you must know your geography...many students can ask some out of the blue questions and not being able to answer or giving the wrong one will result in many students would not be able to take you seriously. Knowing and mastering your subject will make you an informative educator. Aquiring a different teaching style will help you with your relationship with the students. I had a teacher who was laid back and yet a great teacher. He didn't look down at us as a responsibility, he looked at us as a friend...literally. He used to tell us about what kind of jobs he had and all the good and bad things that happened to him. For us, he used to be the one we all shared problems with. He was a favourite teacher. You can be both informative and a favourite if you just need to look to the students as your friends and I am not talking about the 'Hi there! I'm your friend' because that is just a useless statement. Think of us as like.. your best friend from college or job. Discuss about yourself and others. We as students would love a kind of rebellious, 'knows his stuff' and 'get along' kind of teacher.
