It is a medical practice of removal of gall bladder.It is due to the accumulation of gall stones.

Laproscopic Cholecystectomy:

Removal of Gall Bladder by making cuts from the abdomen

Open Cholecystectomy:

Removal of Gall Bladder from a small portion of rib cage
